Research Methods in Psychology
“During COVID-19 quarantine, where teachers are struggling to keep their students engaged, Professor Mangelsdorf managed to create the most thorough and organized research methods class I could have ever imagined. Students who want to obtain the most possible from research methods need this class”
Introduction to Psychological Science
“I can tell that she thought out every aspect of the course to ensure that students are truly learning and understanding the information as opposed to memorizing terms. She knows her stuff!”
Senior Capstone Seminar: Body & Mind
“The class was structured brilliantly. The discussion and assignments kept us constantly engaged and excited about the material.”
How to Be Happy: The Science of Well-Being
“This is one of THE BEST courses I've ever taken”
Social Psychology
“She really tries to find ways to help you learn that are less conventional and more fun.”
Mind
“Unconventional - not the typical, boring style of teaching”
“Has students’ success as her top priority”
Mind is a course in the University of Chicago's liberal arts "core." Spanning three quarters, it provides primarily freshmen and sophomores with a broad, interdisciplinary introduction to how the mind works. After serving as a teaching intern for a year, I served as a lecturer in the winter of 2017 with my own discussion seminar of 18 students.
Cognitive Psychology
“She is highly organized, skilled at emphasizing key concepts, and is willing to help each student fully understand the material, even if they are novices in the field.”
Psychological Statistics
As a teaching assistant in the fall of 2016, I led my own section of 20 students in weekly labs in which they learned how to use R (a statistical programming language). I also helped the instructor, who was brand new, develop the course and assessments, and graded the problem sets, quizzes, and labs.
“She was great throughout the quarter with helping students through challenging questions, and was understanding of our confusion on material we’ve never encountered before.”
Mindful Leadership
“Very engaging and managed to maintain our attention and interest along the 6 hours workshops”
In the fall of 2017, I co-taught a course on how scientific research on mindfulness and self-awareness can make people more effective leaders and professionals. A leadership coach at the University of Chicago Booth School for Business and I developed this series of workshops for visiting economics students from Madrid, Spain.
