Qualitative Feedback:
During COVID-19 quarantine, where teachers are struggling to keep their students engaged, Professor Mangelsdorf managed to create the most thorough and organized research methods class I could have ever imagined. Students who want to obtain the most possible from research methods need this class
I can't say enough good things about the way Dr. M structured this class. My best class so far at EU.
This class is structured really well for maximum learning and retention
Great course! Very organized, material was presented in a digestible manner, and the use of class time was used effectively.
She's amazing. Especially during the transition to online learning, she completely adjusted her class structure to work. This class has you read a lot and work on a large project, but her priority is for you to succeed. She provides literally every resource you could need, and I found a lot of community in her class structure.
Dr. M is BY FAR the most prepared, thoughtful, engaged, and helpful professor I have had thus far at EU. Every assignment was given with a purpose in mind, feedback was always available, extra help always available, course load was *very* heavy, but the payoff in terms of learning was very high
This is one of the best professor I have had during my time at Elmhurst. Hire her for another 20 years please and thank. That is not an over exaggeration she actually put in the work and deserves it.
This instructor really seemed to care about her student's learning the course concepts and material. She really took the time to incorporate multiple review sessions of the course material during class time and made sure students could really understand the things that they were learning about.
I don't think there is anything I can think of to improve. I personally loved her style of teaching and she was always energetic and the way she speaks on the material it is evident that she is skilled and educated in what she's talking about and she knows how to teach it to others well!
I think the professor of this course was great. This was a 8 am class and the teacher came with energy and kept me woke and engaged the whole time. This is something that I really appreciate.
I only had you for one class, but as a transfer student I feel your class was one of the classes that had the greatest impact on me as a student, and I feel you helped me to do some of my best work.”
Dr. Mangelsdorf is so kind, knowledgeable, & compassionate…This class is meant to be difficult but her clear guidance and instruction made it the opposite!
Research Design and Experimentation (North Central College):
She provided lots of different assignments, activities, and methods to help us learn and made sure there was variety of learning approaches being used.
Gave us an enormous amount of helpful information and material that enhanced our academic experience. She single handle taught me techniques that brought improvements in my studying habits that would be valuable throughout my college career
She was very organized and structured in the way she taught which I liked. Also so helpful in a way that she would stop and take time to help those who needed help.
She was very engaged and wanted us to learn as much as we can.
Professor Mangelsdorf always was checking with the class to see what areas we felt we needed more support in and then she would create additional content for us to interact with to make sure we understood the material.
Dr. Mangelsdorf spent so much time working on this class and refining it. I know she is reworking the syllabus for her spring class and is constantly finding ways to improve and ask for feedback which is a very valuable trait in a professor.
The professor allowed for a lot of hands on and step by step process strategies to help learn and use R studio.
Dr. Mangelsdorf provided a plethora of resources on Google Classroom. Some of these resources included articles that were relevant to class discussions, and opportunities for undergraduate research. In addition to that, her office door was always open, and encouraged students to come talk to her in regards to class, psychology, or other interests. I always felt as though she cared a lot about her students. She also demonstrated quite a bit of enthusiasm for a bland course. Even though the topic was boring, she tried her best to make it enjoyable.
Every class we had a little quiz, which I was regretting in the beginning but as the term went on I found myself retaining a lot more information than I have in the past.
[The research project] process definitely helped me grow to be a better student as I learned how to collaborate better, handle time management, and better my writing skills. This all was a great learning experience for me and I came out of this class with so much acquired knowledge that will help me with my future classes and possibly even my career.
I believe she is a huge asset for the psychology department and I hope she continues to work here for many years so she can enrich the lives of future cardinals
Overall she is a great and helpful teacher and I would definitely take her class again.
